INTRODUCING OUR 5-WEEK ONLINE SHORT STORY MASTERCLASS
JOIN US FOR AN IMMERSION INTO THE WONDERS OF THIS MOST DAZZLING OF LITERARY FORMS
Study at home, from anywhere in the world.
Our expert editors, award-winning authors and creative writing lecturers will guide you through the mechanics and subtleties of the short story. There will be weekly writing exercises, set reading, and a comprehensive exploration of the art and craft of composing stories. Submitted work will receive extensive feedback/critiquing by our editors each week, with the aim of producing a publishable, perhaps even a prizewinning, story or two. Our time together allows interaction with others on the course, as well as the option to continue working together beyond Week 5.
A friendly and relaxed course to unravel (some of) the mysteries of this demanding form.
You should allow between four to six hours per week to complete the course, which can be done in your own time.

“Finally, I wish to acknowledge Short Fiction’s masterclass in which ‘Lizard’ was first written and the title story of this short collection, and where ‘Victoria Underground’ was first drafted and now published in Aké Review.” Marcelle Mateki Akita, whose collection Lizard and Other Stories was published recently.
Many of our classes go on to form successful writing groups post-course. Read what other students said about the course here.

For our 13th May course we are gifting one place to a writer who would greatly benefit from the gesture. That is, a person with limited financial means / from a disadvantaged background, who will bring a passion for learning more about the short story form. Simply email firstname.lastname@example.org by May 6th with not more than 250 words on why you would benefit from the free place. Alas, we can only respond to the selected writer. Honesty appreciated and we look forward to working with you.
